V-Grooving / Engraved Glass

V-Groove glasee

V-groove glass adds a touch of elegance and enhances the overall aesthetics of a space.

Similar to chiseling a piece of wood, glass fabricators cut V-shaped lines — both linear and curved — into the surface of a pane of glass to create intricate designs. Lines can be left ground for a textured and opaque appearance or polished for a clear finish. Also, line sizes and finishing styles can be combined to create unique effects, such as shadowing or obscuring transparency.

In addition to providing distinct visual elements to a space, V-grooving can be used to recreate designs found on vintage glass during restoration projects.

V-grooving is an alternate method to acid etching designs onto glass. While both add an artistic element to a glass piece, the difference is in how each method applies a design.

Unlike v-grooving, etching doesn’t go beyond the surface of a glass piece.

V-Grooved Glass Makes Your Project Unique

Glass grooving designs for windows are almost limitless. Glass fabricators often use designs to:

  • Create a faux frame
  • Give the illusion of muntins, or gridwork
  • Add a focal point to a glass piece
  • Enhance residential and commercial entryways

At New Angle Beveling, we have many pre-designed V-groove glass patterns to choose from to add the perfect accent to your glass.

V-Grooving for Your Next Custom Glass Project

In addition, we offer custom work based on your design ideas. Those with custom designs must provide renderings and specs. However, there are limits to custom designs, including both the size of the stock and design placement in relation to the distance from the edge.

Custom V-groove glass designs make a glass piece truly yours. And you’ll be guaranteed no one else will have the same design.

An experienced glass fabricator will have the necessary tools to apply your concept to a glass pane. One of the most popular options for custom V-groove patterns is adding a logo to a windowpane, glass door, or mirror.

In restoration projects, custom designs help pay homage to a certain era or construction style, adding a visual enhancement that blends in seamlessly.
